Leaving the start, the course loops west along the north shore of the rivers Tees. At Infinity footbridge the course bears right up the ramp, under the bridge and loops back to cross over the river on the footbridge. On the southern end the course leaves the footbridge to the right hand side as it turns sharply back on itself and returns to the riverside. At the riverside turn left and follow the footpath heading west again. This path now runs next to the river until such time as there is a sharp left turn away from the river and along a narrow canal. Following the canal the course goes under a road bridge and you will then see in front of you a footbridge that crosses the canal. Go left up the ramp and across the footbridge. Immediately at the far side there is a ramp off to the left. Go down the ramp and at the bottom of the ramp bear off right. The canal will now be to your left. Continue along the canal, under another road bridge and you will see in the distance a small low level footbridge across the canal. At that footbridge turn left to cross it and left again. The canal is still on your left and you are now heading to the finish. Cross under the road bridge again and go along to the basin. Head around the basin and you will see the higher level footbridge you crossed only 800m ago. Go under that footbridge, keep left and retrace you route back towards the start line. The finish line is at the White Water Centre.
