The course starts close to the south corner of the Common, heading north-west on a short section of track. After an out and back loop, the course continues round the outside of the Common in an anticlockwise direction, before crossing the Common and returning to near the start at the end of the first lap. The second lap is identical, after which there is a short leg to the finish. The course is almost entirely on grass, with an uneven surface in places; there are some inclines and the total ascent is about 40m.
