The course consists of a loop of Lanark Loch along with a loop of the Lanark Moor Cycle Trail. The course is run on tarmac paths round the loch which are mainly flat but does include a climb either side of the start/finish point and the trail route is through trees on a prepared surface and includes 4 inclines. All areas of the route are susceptible to rain and therefore puddles can be expected but should be passable and the trail route surface may be softer underfoot. The start/finish is adjacent to the racecourse car park.
