This course is a figure of 8 lap of the woods starting and finishing at the amenity area. From the starting line head north along the road towards Shinnan Bridge/Esknamucky. Cross the bridge where you will see stunning views of Glengarriff river and follow the road around for ca. one hundred metres. Take a left into a picnic area, and another left off the picnic area onto a narrower trail. Continue along this trail, known as the River Walk. This is a beautiful woodland trail with the river running alongside. Several hundred metres into this portion of the course, the trail narrows again, coming down hill shortly before joining the road again. Follow the road down towards the amenity area once again. Travel past the amenity area towards Lady Bantry Bridge. Using the ramp, cross Lady Bantry Bridge and enter the Meadow Walk trail. This is a very sheltered portion of the course; the colours of the foliage are different every week. Travelling west uphill for a few hundred metres, at the first junction keep right, and at the second junction keep left heading uphill. This is a steep climb up towards the road. There are bollards here where the trail joins the road. Upon merging with the road keep left and travel eastwards again downhill. After a few hundred metres, take a left back into the woods alongside the magnificent steps up to Lady Bantry Lookout. Travel straight back towards Lady Bantry Bridge again, rejoin the Avenue taking a left towards the amenity area and the finish line.
